Not a FreeBSD guru, but you should be able to trap this with a debugger.
It is probably some kind of Squid bug.

gdb squid
(gdb) run -NsY -d1
[wait for Squid to start and then fail]
(gdb) backtrace

Then send the resulting stacktrace to squid-bugs@ircache.net.
