Dear guys,
Squid V: 1.1Beta10
Compiler: Gcc 2.7.2
OS: FreeBSD 2.1R
Well, I had trouble with the old squid 1.1beta9.
It used to lockup and respond strangely to the kill signals.
I gave up and waited till 1.1beta10 was released.
I just installed it and did a half an hour crash test.
It did crash.
However, something was different this time.
I did a kill -SIGUSR2 on the main process and I received this on the cache.log:
96/10/25 21:05:16| comm_select: Still waiting on 5 FDs
96/10/25 21:05:17| comm_select: Still waiting on 5 FDs
96/10/25 21:05:18| comm_select: Still waiting on 5 FDs
96/10/25 21:05:19| comm_select: Still waiting on 5 FDs
96/10/25 21:05:20| comm_select: Still waiting on 5 FDs
96/10/25 21:05:21| comm_select: Still waiting on 5 FDs
96/10/25 21:05:22| comm_select: Still waiting on 5 FDs
96/10/25 21:05:23| comm_select: Still waiting on 5 FDs
96/10/25 21:05:24| comm_select: Still waiting on 5 FDs
Before the kill -SIGUSR2, all squid processes (dns..ftp) were with a 0.0% of WCPU (top output). After I did it, the main process squid -s showed some responce (0.4% WCPU) then returned to its coma state.
As the process was not responding I did a kill -9.
Any ideas?
Mario Ferreira.

Ps: My next step will be a ktrace if this doesn't fade away (it is the fourth squid release I try).
