The package name was changed to squid3 some years ago.
Yes the 3.3 versino will work on wheezy, but due to Debian policy about
only doing security patches to stable distribution you have to install
the squid3 packages from the Testing repository.
NP: that is still on 3.3.8 but will be updated shortly.
