     i dont have such scenarios and not even close to those RAM-abudant
machines to try ... but first thing that came to my mind was thinking
that setting up a ramdisk (or even disks) and having squid do to
'normal' cache on those 'disks' could be an alternative to having
direct-memory-only caching.

     is there any logic on that ?
