Regarding ext4 for your cache-disks:
You might consider adding the following options to the mount
 journal_async_commit,noauto_da_alloc,nobh

Will release some more safety of the stored data; however, because of
"nobarriers" some risk there, anyway.
However, when using 3 cache_dirs instead of RAID-0 some risk limiting will
be introduced, compensating for this incease of risk level.
