[squid-users] auth over ssl

Hello, I'm using basic_auth with the ldap helper to provide proxy authentication, but I'm concerned about clear text passwords traveling around the network. Is there a way to set a secure ssl data stream between squid and the browser before authentication occurs? Thanks!
