Please explain? what type of app do you have that requires anything
outside of regular HTTP handling?

HTTP URLs contain a hostname or IP. DNS is needed sometimes to convert
these to IPs.
TCP connections used by HTTP are made with IPs. DNS is sometimes needed
to locate the PTR FQDN for logging or access control purposes.

Squid already does these DNS lookups *if* needed.

Each Squid does the DNS lookups it needs to perform your configured
handling.

The child Squid MAY perform DNS lookups to locate the parent Squid.
The parent Squid MAY to DNS lookups to identify the URL host to fetch from.
