Hi,
as specified by the "configure --help":
By default, `make install' will install all the files in
`/usr/local/squid/bin', `/usr/local/squid/lib' etc. You can specify
an installation prefix other than `/usr/local/squid' using `--prefix',
for instance `--prefix=$HOME'.
I hope that you won't compile on the proxy server himself?
