Try setting CPPFLAGS before running configure. Doing this lets you use
the libtool version included with the source.
I think the build scripts were supposed to take care of this but they don't.

$ declare -x CPPFLAGS="-I../libltdl"
$ ./configure (your configure options)
$ make
