Please ask code specific questions and discussion in squid-dev mailing list.

This patch is specific to your kernel build. Others may not be able to use
the same block size, so the patch won't port.

Is the problem that squid does this regularly? or just that it does it at
all?

The former may be a bug we can fix, the latter is not.
