Hi Adrian.

I don't think this is the problem because no files are being cached.
Previously norton updates would be cached but not even that is happening
anymore ...

Look at enabling the header logging option (mime_ something in
squid.conf) and see what headers the object is being sent with.

It may be sent with headers which deny caching..
