You neglect to mention exactly which version of squid you are running...

But, Just for the time waster I thought I'd see where that option came from.
It appears to be a RedHat/FedoraCore addition to their release of
2.5STABLE3, and carried into the 2.6 by FC as recently as:

Fedora Core 6 Update: squid-2.6.STABLE6-1.fc6
Date: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 11:16:32 -0500

If you are in fact using the FC/RH package you will need to contact them
first for support.

Henrik, their discussions about killing select match some that I recall
reading about in dev once. I'm not sure myself if they were ever applied
to 2.6/3.0 but it may be time to check #435 and see if its still valid
given the patch RH have come up with.
