This is a known problem with MinGW: libcrypt is
not available in the main distribution and must

Henrik: in the nt CVS branch there is already a
GPL version of encrypt.c used when building with
Visual Studio, if you agree, I can add it in the
lib directory and build when needed like strsep.c.
