It needs to be a GET request.
Squid is a HTTP proxy, and whatever you send to Squid must be HTTP.
Squid understands URLs of a number of other protocols, and will then act
as a gateway between HTTP and the requested protocol.
URL schemes known to Squid: http, ftp, gopher, whois, wais, urn, https,
and the Squid specific cache_object scheme.
