Well, everything is rebuilt, and my file descriptors are OK, but I'm still seeing the storeClientCopy3: http://whatever - clearing ENTRY_DEFER_READ
Any more ideas? Or are these safely ignored? Or are they BAD?!?

Actually, you need older files. :o)
As of today...
Grab http://mirrors.kernel.org/gnu/autoconf/autoconf-2.13.tar.gz
Ungzip, untar, configure, make, and install.
Grab http://mirrors.kernel.org/gnu/automake/automake-1.5.tar.gz
Ungzip, untar, etc. again.
Re-run bootstrap.sh
