Depends on how you have integrated Squid into your OS service manager
(init scripts etc).
If you have integrated Squid into your OS service manager then it is best
to use the service manager to start/stop Squid.
If you are starting Squid manually then stopping Squid manually is best,
using the "squid -k shutdown".
> /sbin/squid -k kill OR pkill -9 squid
Don't "kill" squid. At least not if you have a cache. This won't let Squid
write out a clean cache index and the next startup of Squid will start
with a dirty cache.
