 On which platform/os/version ?
 Can you post the full configure transcript so to speak,
 including the options given to configure.
 You may want to for instance :
 % script configure.forme
 % ./configure ....
 And so on,
 At the problem condition exit the script and post the
 result here.
 (Make sure  to start with a clean distribution).
