[squid-users] Authentication Issues I think

Howdy All,
                This problem is probably very simple and may
not even be a problem and I will surely get subsequently
flamed.

I have searched the mailing list as per the website's
recommendation.

I'm currently running squid 2.4.STABLE6 on Debian 3 with
kernel 2.4.18. I've set up smb_auth and it is working a
treat.

The problem that I suffer is that when you open a browser
you are presented with a pop-up box for authentication.
After typing in your credentials it presents you with a
"The page cannot be displayed". This is with IE6. I haven't
had a chance to test with other versions of the browser as
none are available at this site.

The error page also states at the bottom "Cannot find server
or DNS Error" and the page is an obvious IE page not one
generated from squid.

If you hit F5 it will happily pull the page from the cache
and it will get every other page until such time as you close the
window and re-auth with your next launching of IE where it will
fail to retrieve the first page and succeed on everyone after.

The squid cache looks OK eg it generates the 407 auth required
but then doesn't seem to get a subsequent request.

The smb_auth packages works fine and has been tested from the command
line with the -d option.

Above is the initial request for auth details. After a successful auth
you get the earlier described page. Once you hit F5 the below lines
appear
and the rest of the page is retrieved.

This happens on any webpage. Not just the one in the above example.

Any help at all on this issue would be highly appreciated.
