[squid-users] First Request Fails

This is with IE 6 SP1 on w2k, squid 2.4.stable3. When opening a browser for the first time I get the following entry in access_log

1037744816.308 1 192.168.10.123 TCP_DENIED/407 1686 GET http://xxx.xxxxxx.xxx/ - NONE/-

The browser then asks for authentication, I put the username and password in, upon hitting OK I get the cryptic IE page cannot be displayed DNS error message.

The location of the home page setting has no affect. Refresh work fine and then all is good. This looks to me like IE is not making another request for the page after gathering authentication details. Wondering if anyone has ran into to this problem.
