Hi,
i have a question about how many authentication processes should be
started.
We are using:
- - Debian 3.0 / 2.2.20-Kernel
- - Squid 2.4STABLE6 with pam_auth
- - SquidGuard 1.2.0
We have:
- - a Pentium II 400MHz with 256MB RAM and SCSI-Devices
- - 100 MBit LAN
- - DSL-Connection to the internet
- - 20 user
- - some automated processes using a 'supervisor-account' on the proxy.
Nearly everthing works fine, except that sometimes - rarely - the
authentication fails for some user. Then we find only two lines in
the auth.log about the
failure, but i think, it is a problem of the pam_configuration to
tell us more.
Test/Workaround:
We increased the number of authenticate_children up to 10 (former 5
processes), we will see how long the authentication
runs stable.
Has anybody an idea/solutions/tip ??
Thanks
Dirk
