if you complie squid with aufs,ufs you can choose in cache_dir what
filesystem you wanna use.
so when you compiled squid with async-io you can/should use aufs in
squid.conf (then you
compiling would make sense).
as far as read in faqs/manuals you can change cache_dir type without loosing
or changing
anything in you cache dirs. so you easily can change the type and restart
squid.
