There is the possibility of using an ident server on each NT
workstation to get the username. Someone also had a 'srcname' patch
for Squid some time back that allowed an external redirector-like
process to perform IP-to-username lookups (such as with a Samba
nmblookup wrapper). Has this 'srcname' functionality made it into
later versions of Squid? Is it a possibility for it to be included?
