        I am unsure if that is even possible. Squid's very nature is to cache
files that are requested through it. I believe that the only files that
it will not cache is SSL data.

        Perhaps if you create an SSL page with that pdf file on it the file
might not be cached, but I believe that once you start the download
process that file will again be moved into the realm of standard http,
making it something that squid will cache. I am no expert on that issue.

        I suppose you are attempting to create a "safe" document that cannot be
copied, shared, cached or "stolen" in any way, am I right? I am not
certain that that will ever be possible.

        However, this could be a monthly, weekly or daily report that is
automatically generated by a server and the name stays the same all of
the time, right? If that is the case, I can only suggest that the name of
the report include a timestamp in its name, which will make it more
unique to each user.

        If that is the case, then you might have access to the squid servers
that will be serving this information. In which case you can shrink down
the live time that items will remain in cache.

        The piece that you will need to play with in the squid.conf file is the
following line:

        reference_age = 3

        There is some GREAT information within the squid.conf file in the
section that refers to the above line.
