And I don't have time to help people who will not help themselves.
Everyone here is a volunteer, and it is rude to demand that volunteers
go out of their way to assist you when you have clearly not put forth
any effort to learn for yourself.
On the other hand, many of us will be happy to go out of our way to help
you, for our usual consulting rates. My rate is $95US/hour. Quite
reasonable, I think. I'm not saying you have to pay someone to get
answers about Squid...I am saying you either have to put in some effort
yourself, or you have to expect to pay for someone else to put in that
effort for you. It is your choice. The Squid nerds on this list often
spend hours each day answering questions, for free, but we will not do
your work for you for free.
Again, I make the humble suggestion that you read Eric Raymond's
excellent article, entitled "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way":
http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
If you are new to Linux and Open Source software in general, you /need/
to read this article before you end up alienating yourself from the
people who you would like to help you. If you read that article
carefully (and then read it a second time to make sure you've really
understood it), and come back in a day or two with a properly asked
question, you will find many people here willing to help you, including
me (and I am definitely a person you want to answer your ReiserFS and
Squid questions). If you don't read and understand the article I've
linked to, you will never be satisfied with the level of support you
receive for Open Source software. And if you do read it, understand it,
and put it into practice, you will be welcomed with open arms.
So let's try again in a day or so, shall we?
Thanks.
