Up to the point "squid dies" everything is normal.. there is not 
supposed to be any messages after "storeLateRelease" unless if there 
is something that may need attention.
However, in all error cases there should be additional messages 
telling the error before storeDirWriteCleanLogs starts and your Squid 
is aborting due to an error of some kind and I would have expected to 
se a "FATAL: ..." error there telling a bit on why your Squid is 
aborting.
What you can try is to enabling some debugging before sending the 
request.
  squid -k debug
