Squid supports client and server side persistent connections (they can
be disabled in the squid.conf file--which is a very informative source
of information).

I'm not entirely sure about the term 'pipelining' as it applies to
Squid, but there is the 'pipeline_prefetch' option which likely enables
just what you're speaking of.
