I think it was mostly dated "squid tuneup" documents. After scurrying the mailing list archives and the links at the main squid website, that's easily corrected. I think those doucments also had recommendations for using dlmalloc and gnuregex as well (which, from the ML archives, seem to no longer apply to modern systems0.
