[squid-users] Recommendation for cache_dir type?

I'm going to upgrade from 2.3 to 2.4 to cover the security alert that came
out (last week?) It looks like there are a couple of new options for the
store - aufs & diskd. Stability is my primary concern. But, as usage
increases, it would be nice to get better performance on the same hardware.
Is there a consensus if these are as stable as ufs or which one seems to
becoming more of the "standard" type, replacing ufs? TIA
