Squid implements a small part of the old expired Internet Draft (it was
not expired when the CARP hashing was first implemented in Squid).
However, to say that Squid implementes CARP is to make a huge
overstatement. Squid implements a parent selection algorithm based on
the hashing algorithm of CARP, nothing more. The hasing algorithm aims
at being identical to CARP but as the available documentation is a bit
vague and conflicting it is hart to guarantee anything.
CARP is a lot more than only the hash algorithm.
