You cannot expect much from disbling the cache.log. By default squid logs in cache.log while starting and anything goes wrong in squid. I mean debug_options in Squid.conf is ALL, 1. So you need not worry about cache.log. And It will be very useful to point the runtime failure of the squid. Next, Yes... forwarding loop is detected... Are you sure you are not getting the same error for other OSs win95,98 ??

  we have win95 and 98 users as well, but i only get these msgs on winnt users, does anyone know how it can be fixed?
   
  also, does turning off cache.log. save memory???
