[SQU] FD 23 Invalid Request - Crash

Hello All,
I am currently having problems with our cache server running squid. This is what the errors are in the squid log files /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog.

Sep 7 07:43:40 squid squid[115]: parseHttpRequest: Unsupported method 'STP/1.0'
Sep 7 07:43:40 squid squid[115]: clientReadRequest: FD 23 Invalid Request
Sep 7 07:52:01 squid squid[115]: parseHttpRequest: Unsupported method 'STP/1.0'
Sep 7 07:52:01 squid squid[115]: clientReadRequest: FD 23 Invalid Request
Sep 7 07:56:05 squid squid[115]: parseHttpRequest: Unsupported method 'STP/1.0'
Sep 7 07:56:05 squid squid[115]: clientReadRequest: FD 27 Invalid Request
Sep 7 17:51:13 squid squid[979]: commConnectDnsHandle: Bad dns_error_message

we seem to be getting hundreds of the "clientReadRequest" errors then we get one commConnectDnsHandle error then the whole system locks up. Has anyone else had this problem previously?
It has been running perfectly for months (197days) and then all of a sudden this starts to happen.
Any help would be much appreciated. or any pointers to where to look.
