I have posted this question on the newsgroups and have not received
any replies. I have also looked through the archives and haven't seen
anything like it there either. Please forgive me if it has already been
addressed.
I am wanting to set up a squid box at each of our client sites.
They are connected to us via a satellite link. Basically, if the site
they are looking for is not on the Linux Squid box, it should send a
request to the main cache iengines we have here at the hub, which are
running the Inktomi cache server.
I need it so that when the users at the child site do not have the
URL cached locally, it cascades up to our larger cache servers. I have
tried all sorts of combinations to get it to cascade up to the inktomi
boxes but I keep getting a line bungled error. I have tried setting the
options according to the FAQ.
I am, however, successful in getting it to point to the inktomi box
itself without looking at the local client. Here is what I have.
# this option does work
# it points everything to the inktomi-cluster rather than local
cache_peer inktomi-cluster.onsatnet.com parent 8080 0 no-query
default
If someone could share a configuration setting for this, I would be much
obliged. The inktomi boxes, each a Sun Enterprise 450 with hundreds of
GB of space are sitting behind a Linux firewall running ipchains, but
that shouldn't affect it (?).
Thanks.
KJ
