Amount of i-nodes

Hi,

I've created a 7GB partition with 1 000 000 inodes ... (to accomodate many small cache-files)
Is this a ridiculous amount of i-nodes of does this makes sense with large(r) cache-volumes ??

I've seen graphs with cache-machines who had up to 4 000 000 objects in cache...this means they must have a lot of i-nodes defined ? not ?
