2.2.STABLE5..File descriptors hung state(half-closed)

Anyone,

  I'm running Squid(2.2.STABLE5) under Solaris 2.6 with latest
  patch cluster. Around 3:00p I start seeing problems with squid running
  out of file descriptors(3078 defined). Checking the
  "Process Filedescriptor Allocation" at the CacheManager Menu I see
  1989 filedescriptors is the following similar state:
  
  2883 Socket 1407 420* 0 10.158.13.32.1138 half-closed
  
  
  What causes this? What does "half-closed" mean???
