        isn't the taotal RAM used, but only that used for a particular
        purpose, and many reccommend leaving it at the default.

        The quote about 3 times really should be deleted; the total
        RAM usage scales with the size of the on disk cache, not with
        this parameter. You'll need to look at the archives for
        the scaling factor.
