Hello,
I use squid as a proxy server. Restricted users access the internet thru
this proxy server. The access control is done based on ip addresses. I
want to have the access control based on userids. Can I use the
proxy_auth mechanism for doing this ? How does this reflect on the
users. Do they have to enter a user id and passwd each time they access
a page or only once during a session ?
The /etc/squid.conf on my m/c ( RedHat 5.2) has the following lines:
-------------------------------------------------------
# By default, the authenticator_program is not used. You must
# define USE_PROXY_AUTH during compilation.
-----------------------------------------------------
Does this mean that with my squid ( squid-novm-1.1.22-2 ) does not have
support for proxy_auth ? How do I enable the support ?
How do I write access control rules to have user based authentication
instead of the current ip-address-based authentication ?
Could someone please send a squid.conf file that uses proxy_auth .
Regards,
Ghins Mathai
