Yes, it is known and common problem with 2.0.xx kernels. I don't know why,
how to fix etc... I played with /proc/... (freepages etc) but it doesn't
work at all. In my cache i have 160M Ram with 200M swap. But it makes no
difference - kernel even don't try to swap.
If you will upgrade system to 2.1.13x everything will be ok. 2.1.130 and
2.1.131 are quite stable, i don't recommend using 2.1.126-2.1.129.
