I don't follow you. ETag isn't listed in 5.3, Request Header Fields.
entity-tags are used in various places, but ETag the header is only
explicitly defined as a response header. Also, ETag isn't listed in 7.1,
which is the definition of entity-headers.
Have you seen ETag headers in requests?
