Annoying image problem

Hi, I'm new to this list AND to squid so please try to limit flames to
100° Celsius :)

When Win9x clients access pages thru Squid, every now and then some
images appear as failed to download. Not the broken image icon, but
rather the X-in-a-square icon. If you right-click on the icon and select
"Show image", it pops up instantly. It appears the image is in the
cache, but some kind of timeout made the browser "give up". Any ideas?

Heck, there must be some setting in squid.conf that handles this, but
I'm probably overlooking it.
