I am doing some testing using Squid 1.1.22 on a Compaq Proliant 3000 with Intel PCI 10/100 LAN cards and an Adaptec SCSI controller.
The test suite I am using is Webbench 2.0. Squid is set up as an accelerator. The web server is set up on another box. The request/second numbers are extremely low. I can hit the web server directly and get better numbers.
Are there some tuning parameters I can set with either RedHat or squid that can dramatically increase my performance? Currently I am using the defaults,
