stalled connections

Hi,

Squid stalls after getting a request, taking up to over a minute to
reply to a request for something in-cache. This happens about 5 minutes
after Squid starts up. This seems like a possibly common problem,
anyone experience it?

This has 5.4 GB for space and 128 MB RAM. We've tried squid 1.1.22
and 1.NOVM.22.
