Problems with Squid 1.1.11 after moving cache directories

Hi

I stopped Squid completely, then installed a new 2.1Gb drive for the cache
as /disk6, and "mv"-ed the files to it from /disk3, then I modified the
squid.conf to point to /disk6 instead of /disk3

That all seems pretty straightforward, except I now see errors saying :

And the wrong GIF / JPG / HTML / whatever is displayed.

Reviewing the archives shows that people have been having this problem, but
blaming it on bad RAM as a cause for the corrupt cache. I can't see that
adding a disk to an external cabinet could affect the RAM on the
motherboard.

I also tried a fsck on the disk, and it comes up clean (even after having
thrown 100% I/O to the disk to saturate it with file copies)

Up till the disk was replaced, we've never seen this. I've moved the
directory to another disk once before, but don't recall such a problem
occuring. Now it seems to be somewhat spread amongst the cache objects. Is
there any way of solving this or explaining why it's happening ?
