logs not rotating

Hi,

perhaps i just have a general problem here... my logs aren´t rotating, I
run squid 1.1.20 on Linux 2.0.32, in the root´s crontab and in
/etc/crontab i have the following (taken from the faq) 0 0 * * *
/bin/kill -USR1 `cat /usr/local/squid/logs/squid.pid`
the .pid file is there, and it contains the right process....when i
enter the line at the prompt it works....
