Segv with squid 1.NOVM.18-20/Solaris 2.5.1

Recently our cache (squid 1.NOVM.18) started running out of filehandles,
so I've tuned the kernel as suggested in the squid FAQ and recompiled.
Now, after some time, squid 1.NOVM.18 barfs with a segmentation violation.
I've tried 1.NOVM.20 as well, and get similar problems. Currently I'm
running ok with 1.1.20, but that's not ideal for my setup.

I would provide a backtrace, but gdb seems to be unable to provide one in
this case - broken stack perhaps?

cache.log:

Anyone else seen this or something similar?
