This is a repost, please excuse my efforts...
I am installing a 3rd drive to a squid cache_dir. The previous two drives
were 2GB each and easily partitioned to equal sizes. I now have a 6B drive
(sda) to add, and would be able to make 3 partitions out of it, but fdisk
won't let me create partitions of equal block size to each other and the
other partitioned drives. I don't expect that 'close enough is good
enough' so your comments would be appreciated.
It comes down to blocks/KB I guess.
Regards,
Disk /dev/sda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 787 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Begin Start End Blocks Id System
Disk /dev/sdb: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 256 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Begin Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 1 1 256 2056288+ 83 Linux native
Disk /dev/sdc: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 263 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Begin Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdc1 1 1 256 2056288+ 83 Linux native
/dev/sdc2 257 257 263 56227+ 83 Linux native
and here's the newest drive:
Disk /dev/sda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 787 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Partition number (1-4): 2
First cylinder (257-787): 257
Last cylinder or +size or +sizeM or +sizeK ([257]-787): +2056288K <-
Command (m for help): p
Disk /dev/sda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 787 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Begin Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 1 256 2056288+ 83 Linux native
/dev/sda2 257 257 512 2056320 83 Linux native <-?
