squid on an interface

can you enable squid to use a different interface for different parents?

I am linked into a squid server currently with 1 parent and firewall none set on
so ALL requests go through that parent....

sometimes it does.... i wanna put a backup parent to use a virtual interface to
access another parent...

and if both fail, to somehow stop useing firewall none and go direct for
everything, and if a parent comes back up, switch back to them in the correct
order.
