I can reproduce your problem with that URL.
We use Squid 1.1.18 on a SparcStation4 with Solaris 2.5.

We get this this error one or two times a day with different URLs.
For example
http://www.excite.com/search.gw
But the error seems to more or less transient:
I found an log entry with ERR_ZERO_SIZE_OBJECT for
http://www2.gsoc.dlr.de/scripts/satvis/countries.idc
but it was accessible later.
