Preventing Sqiud from continuing downloads

Hi all,
I installed Squid 1.1.17 NOVM and its working brilliantly on a P166 with
64Mb of Ram. My only problem is that when I stop a download, Squid continues
to download that file congesting my full bandwidth.

How can I prevent squid from doing that?
