Is it possible to instruct squid to collect more information about HITs
and MISSes ? For instance, one could imagine recording whether a HIT was within
the "first half" of the cache or not (and label it as HIT_HOT whereas others
would be HIT_COLD, for instance), so as to allow estimating what would be the
impact of halving the cache. Similarily by keeping a history that's twics as
long, one could make the difference between MISS that would be serviced by a
cache twice as big.
I realize that the various logs could be used to simulate the effect of a
differently-setup cache, but then: has anyone written such a simulator ?
