squid dies getting SIGUSR1

I've running squid-1.1.1 on 2 machines linux/solaris. Every night I send
a USR1 to rotate the logs. On the linux box it works fine but on Solaris
the server terminates. Not a big problem at all - I run RunCache and so
the server is started again.
I see this since 1.1.0.
